…Relief
G’dday,
So, it has been a while and I have noticed that the length and depth of my little updates has been deteriorating. We’ll see whether or not I can change it. I think I am right if I say that a reason for these limitations is the lack of trips outside of marvelous Kingston. Except for last weekend most of my life has been taking place within the city borders of Kingston. Nothing wrong with that, but it does get a bit boring. Then again, the amount of papers does not really allow me to do anything else. So what has been happening….?
After that ski trip it was back to work again and in the for weeks that have passed I have produced multiple papers, have attended an awful lot of lectures and drank fair amounts of alcohol on the way. Most interesting was probably lake Ontario. Over the winter the lake freezes over, especially in the corner that is close to Kingston. The ice is a good 30/40 /50 cms thick and it is so clear and relatively flat that you can easily skate on it. That’s something I (regrettably) didn’t do. What I did do was walk on it, watch the sunset and see ice sailors rush by. See pictures for an impression…
Last weekend, as a sort of break in between studying and paper writing, we, a groupf of seven guys, went of to Quebec city for some fun. And fun it was; Quebec, first of all an amazing city, almost European and built as a fortress , but at the same time a good city to go out. Enough beer, a deck of cards and poker chips helped a lot and going out was interesting in a city where they predominantly speak French and as cold as it was in Kingston in January. On Saturday we could even treat ourselves on a four course meal for half the price, you gotta love it: low season
So, now it is back to real life again, a bit of studying, finishing off some papers and waiting till the start of the exams, nicely spread out over April and enough time in between to travel around a little.
I put some pictures up, enjoy!
cheers
